This appeared in the Bryan/College Station Eagle, today, Saturday, Apr 20, 2013 and I think the writer hit the nail right on the head.
Politicians are more interested in than themselves than constituents
Public servants used to go to Washington to enforce the laws and protect the people from the government’s attempts to infringe on their rights.
Politicians now feel they are above the laws others are expected to obey, choose which laws to enforce and which ones to ignore. They concentrate only on passing laws that give themselves powers they weren’t granted by the Constitution, and gaining access to more of the taxpayers’ money.
Public servants represent the people and ensure that government not only taxes its citizens as little as possible, but spends the citizens’ money wisely. Politicians go on TV wearing a $3,000 suit, $800 pair of glasses, with a $400 pen sticking out of their pocket all paid for at the taxpayers’ expense and tell people the government is “entitled to more of your money.” They spend a million dollars of the taxpayers’ money on a vacation for them and their family without a shred of shame, while veterans and the elderly suffer needlessly for lack of funding.
Public servants protect citizens’ rights. Politicians give taxpayer money and rights to people here illegally, while ignoring immigration laws that were passed to protect us.
Politicians are a bigger threat to Americans security than any terrorist or foreign country. They are cowards who sell out the citizens they represent every day. Their greed and entitlement mentality are exceeded only by their arrogance and criminal behavior that goes unchecked by the other branches of government that have been infiltrated by yet more politicians rather then government officials who protects the citizens.
The government has become more concerned with its own needs then those of its citizens, much the way the education system has become more concerned with fund raising and teachers than it is with children’s education.
