Tonight a range of topics came up, many the same as in previous meetings such as water rights and other local issues, like the October 19 Republican Fall Fest, where the Burleson County Tea Party will have a table; there is however, a drastic change in tone on the Donald Trump issue. In the past, one could say it had almost a comical overtone and now people see him as a serious candidate. Does anyone trust him? Honestly, it doesn’t seem like that is an issue. After all the damage Obama has done, what is the worst he could do? Maybe fix it?
The topic of Syrian refugees came up. If little Germany is going to take 2,000 of them, how many of them will end up here in the USA? At this point everyone expects the worst from Obama, nothing would be a surprise. The issue of why it is happening did not come up. The fact that Glenn Beck is working on a project to vet, and sponsor four Christian families from there did. This sounds like a noble cause so if interested check into it and donate.
Anyone not actually involved with or understanding what the Tea Party is really about, probably would be surprised. Yes, though there is a bit of Obama bashing, Boehner and the like are not far behind, but the big question is, “what can we do to fix it?”
Mostly what the meetings are about is fellowship of like-minded people who love our country and just want to see it survive. Unlimited debt ceilings, never-ending mistrust, and damage only a few years ago unthinkable, are the new normal. We must never give up, we must keep working to repair and restore the honor and hope this country has to offer and we must keep praying.
